In-person Tuesdays at St. Cyprian’s (Apr 18, Apr 25, May 2, 9, 16); Scheduled use of WeXL Media Lab (Apr 19-May22); Red carpet student film screening and at The Little Roxie Theater with mentors (Tuesday, May 23rd, 4-5:30 p.m.) and reception (5:30-8 p.m.)

Our WeXL Boundless Self-discovery Filmmaking teaches youth to explore creativity by making 3-minute short films. Students will also meet professionals in film and media.
This in-person group class will go through the three stages of production: pre-production, production, and post-production.
Students will use the WeXL Media Lab equipment under the guidance of our team to create, shoot, and complete their film projects.

Upon completion, films will be screened at The Little Roxie Theater in front of a live audience at a special “red carpet” celebration!
Students will work together to:
Brainstorm story ideas
Write a three-act script
Make films with our team and professional industry mentors
Give and get constructive feedback
Present their films and answer Q&A

Marissa Smit
Artist & Educator
WeXL Boundless San Francisco
Marissa Smit is an artist, teacher, and therapist in training. She studied acting at the Meisner Technique Studio in San Francisco. Today she teaches acting to youth, ages 6-16 years old at Empowerhouse Studios. She is currently working on her Film & TV Industry Essentials certification through NYU|Tisch. Marissa will be graduating in May 2023 with her Masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Her self-designed undergraduate degree in Creativity and Child Development from the University of California, Berkeley, paved the way for her eleven years of experience in working with children of all ages and in various community settings. Marissa loves teaching young people because they are experts at seeing the world with wonder and curiosity. She believes that creative expression has the power to heal, and aspires to guide them toward their growth using artistic modalities such as drama, visual arts, language arts, movement, music, and film.
Arabella DeLucco
Filmmaking Instructor / Founder

Arabella DeLucco is a San Francisco-based writer/creator/producer who immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines at a young age. After graduating from Rutgers University, Arabella became a newspaper journalist, event producer, and tech marketer, among other things. She sometimes thought she was a failure, but taking filmmaking and oil painting classes at City College of San Francisco helped her redefine success. Now, Arabella brings her whole creative being into her work as the founder and CEO of WeXL. In 2021, she received a Jefferson Award from KPIX-CBS for serving the Bay Area community and helping others realize the power of their story.

WeXL Boundless is co-created and run by passionate educators and artists. We first piloted the program in The Bronx through a partnership with educator Danielle Sierra. We believe empowering Youth & Families to tap into their creativity is the answer to building a more equitable and inclusive future.
