Monique 'Mo' Billings is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played basketball at Santiago High School in Corona, Calif., where she was a 4-year letterman and also a track and field athlete.

Mo was also the inspiration for our Boundless Youth program, for which she served as a mentor to fourth graders at Girls Prep Bronx Academy.

What inspired you to play basketball?

My dad inspired me to play basketball, I was 5 years old, and my dad asked me to play, ended up playing and I loved it playing with my friends from the neighborhood and just loved it ever since. - Monique Billings

What are some of the challenges you had to become a professional basketball player?

Being discipline, making sure I take care of my body, making sure I’m eating right, getting enough sleep. Know that it’s a sacrifice that you have to put a lot of time into what you want to do and to be great. - Monique Billings

What lessons did you learn from basketball and how did you use them in everyday life?

Enjoying the moment and learning to appreciate the people around you, learning how to be a good teammate, showing up and doing your job. Be able to say I was full at the start of the day and I’m empty and I’m read to go again tomorrow. - Monique Billings
