Baritone Professional Singer Anthony Turner
Anthony Turner is a professional singer and Adjunct Professor of Voice at Wagner College on Staten Island. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Turner moved to Staten Island in 2001 to further his career. Turner has degrees in music performance from Simpson College (BM) and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (MM). He is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, The American Guild of Musical Artists, Opera Ebony, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and a life member of the National Federation of Music Clubs.
He has held several musical theatre and opera roles and has appeared in many music festivals. Recent collaborations with various composers resulted in projects such as the commissioned song cycle “Who Am I?”, which is based on the poetry of incarcerated youth from “The Gathering” by Jeannine Otis and Katrina Ballads, set to texts from interviews of politicians and victims of hurricane Katrina.
