WeXL Portfolio
Please enjoy the following work samples we curated for the SF Arts Commission that specifically highlight WeXL’s mission of empowering youth and non-normative voices through programs and technology that advance the arts and media industries. Each video represents a Creator who is part of communities engaged with our work including but not limited to youth, BIPOC, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, and corporate partners. Thank you! 🙏🏾
Boundless Youth
After our pilot program at Girls Prep Bronx Elementary, we asked our Boundless Youth Creators for their feedback. Our team and mentors were touched by the students’ emotional gravity and insight.
Mentor: ShakaJamal
ShakaJamal is an Oakland-based artist and filmmaker who is also the director of our WeXL Creator Studios documentary, Battle Against the Odds. This is the crowdfunding video for that film, which we began shooting in May 2022.
Mentor: Hallie Blakeslee
Our former intern turned fellow Hallie Blakeslee, is a creative writer who has a visual impairment and is on the spectrum. We hope to hire Hallie to lead a Boundless Youth TV Writer’s Room for San Francisco high schoolers because neurodivergent thinking is powerful.
Mentor: Austin Cho
In July 2022, WeXL Mentor Austin Cho (a TikTok Creator with over 3.7 million followers) chose WeXL for the Logitech #Creators4BIPOC Day of Service. He traveled to San Francisco from Los Angeles to film a few PSA’s on healthy content consumption for our Boundless Youth program. Austin is also an inspirational leader in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Logitech + WeXL
WeXL partners with corporations that are aligned with our mission of empowering youth and non-normative voices. The Logitech #Creators4BIPOC grant enabled us to start programs like Boundless Youth. In this video, Chelsea Simms, Global Marketing at Logitech, tells us why the company chose WeXL as a partner.
