Pathways Portraits: Level The Playing Field
Level the Playing Field is a program created by University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill student Nehemiah Stewart that offers Black college students scholarships, mentorship, and internship opportunities. The program’s goal is to provide these students with the professional training necessary to thrive in a business environment.
Janiyah Sutton
Cohort member Janiyah Sutton is studying Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. In this video, she talks about her love of chemistry and how her strong family ties have encouraged her to provide families in rural areas with adequate medical care.
Jarvis Blanding
Cohort member Jarvis Blanding is studying Criminal Justice and Psychology at North Carolina Central University. In this video, he expresses his desires to become a police officer in hopes of fighting police brutality from the inside-out. Jarvis also speaks about the wealth of information and resources he’s received from Level the Playing Field.
Alexis Campbell
Cohort member Alexis Campbell is studying Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. In this video, she discusses her plans to go into vaccination research in an effort to ease her community’s history of distrust.
